MacInTouch reports MOAB are trying to exploit users’ computers with some kind of malformed image file:

<!– Never use the macbook at bed again when browsing the MoAB or you will fry your balls, looper –>
So they tried to do something that caused MacBooks to heat up.
Tell me again how this isn’t personal? Tell me again how these are serious security personnel trying to out Apple.
[Q:] Is this an attack, revenge, conspiracy or some kind of evil plot against Apple and the users of Apple products?
[A:] Not at all, some of us use OS X on a daily basis.
Right… it’s not an attack against Apple users, they just want to fry their balls.
What’s better than trying some cool hidden h4×0r exploit to prove your mad skilz?
How about failing to actually do so? Because so far reports are that most visitors were completely unaware of any attempted hack.
Hrm…. hack… (Mac users: fire up Dictionary.app and see definition 2).
I’ve also heard of the MOAB folks referred to as “Swinging Dicks” which made me think of the show Fat Actress with Kirstie Alley. I saw the ad (above) and thought: “Well, they got fat right. Actress? Debatable.” Drawing a comparison to the MOAB folks is left as an exercise for the reader.
I’m still at a loss to figure out what their real motivation is here. They clearly aren’t trying to be taken as serious security researchers, given their ubiquitous use of h4×0r-speek. They aren’t going to get the respect of the Apple community, given the way they’ve gone about this from the beginning (going to the VLC bug on the 2nd day seemed to have taken the wind out of their sails).
What are they trying to accomplish?
The only thing that I can come up with is the David Maynor school of thought: if you have a problem with Mac users, try channeling this desire, which he described as wanting to stab one of those users in the eye with a lit cigarette, and do something about it.
You know, like trying to fry their balls.
Anyone else think someone took a lot of wedgies in high school?
